Smartphone Price hike from 1st april 2020 increased tax from 12% to 18%
From April 1,
mobile phones will become 6 percent more expensive. In the 39th meeting of the
Goods and Services Tax GST Council, it has been decided to increase GST on
mobile phones from 12% to 18%.
Union Finance
Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told after the meeting of the council that at
present the GST rate on mobile phone and its specified parts is 12%, the
council has agreed to increase GST to 18% on both. GST rate has been reduced
from 18% to 5% to promote airplane maintenance and overhauling service in the
country.
From April 1,
with GST for 10000 phones, you will have to pay 11800 instead of 11200 for
20000 phones. From April 1, instead of 16800 for 15000 phones, now you have to
pay 17700.
In the last
few years, the craze of mobile phones has increased very fast, if a family has
5 members then 4 will definitely have a mobile phone.
Turning the
pages of history and going 8 or 9 years ago, buying a mobile phone was quite a
difficult task, but ever since the mobile prices have come down, the mobile
phone has come to everyone.
Given this,
now the prices of mobile phones are going to increase again, here you will have
to pay 18% GST instead of 12% for mobile phones and these new prices will come
into existence from April 1, 2020. This decision has been taken in the meeting
of GST Council.
